Burgundy Petal
Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This small flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its burgundy stem is very thick, and the miniature, light brown leaves are dark grey on the underside and are slender, pointed with rounded edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and a pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.
Two medium-sized flowers sit at the end of the stem. The flowers are 2 cm (0.8 inches) wide, with solid azure petals and a lilac central disk. The flower head is largely flat with 39 tightly layered round-tipped petals. They are sturdy.
It has an overpowering scent that smells like musk, and it has very little pollen, but can cause allergic reactions. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also visited by a variety of insects.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
