Orange Petalora

Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in its stem)

This colossal flower grows up to 8.3 feet (2.5 meters) tall. Its orange stem is thick, and the large, gray-green leaves are very thick with smooth edges. A pair of leaves grow at the base of the flower head.

Two tiny flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 51 cm (20.1 inches) wide, with petals that are olive on the underside and beige on the top. The flower head is largely flat with 54 raised narrow petals. They are very delicate.

It has a delicate scent that smells like cheese, and it has very little pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird.


It is very rare outside of a particular area.
