Golden Glowfruit Tree

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 15 feet (4.6 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 47 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, straight trunk covered in knobbly, silver bark, and inside, the dense wood is yellow-brown.

The small clumps of branches are short stubs and are covered with large amounts of small, wide leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are either gold or ashy green, with dark brown zig-zags.

In early spring, it produces dozens of large, black blossoms with stiff, pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a strong scent that smells like damp.

In early winter it produces small, long, tapering fruit. The fuzzy pink skin is peel-able and inedible, and the very soft red flesh is bland and very juicy. The lime seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with grassy ground between them.
