Golden Spine Cactus

This modest-sized cactus grows up to 67 feet (20.4 meters) tall. It splits near the top to form 6 tapering stems. Each stem is yellow-green, and is covered in thousands of rigid brown spines. The mushroom-shaped body is yellow, and is covered in many rigid gold spines.

It is slow growing, taking 43 years to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with orange petals and a yellow center grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a cube made up of 15 widely spaced, narrow petals. It has a scent that varies in strength that smells like bonfire smoke.

The cactus's skin is extremely thick, the turquoise flesh is rough, and the dark grey sap is thin.
