Orange Spike

Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)

This big cactus grows up to 75 feet (22.9 meters) tall. It splits near the top to form 4 very thin stems. Each stem is light orange or green, and is covered in handfuls of flexible olive spines. The spherical body is yellow-green, and is covered in large amounts of fine, hazel, hair-like spines.

It is fast growing, taking 3 months to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with solid blue petals decorated with blue lines and a slate central disk grows at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a sphere made up of 7 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. It has an overpowering scent that smells like baby powder.

The cactus's skin is extremely thick, the crimson flesh is leathery, and the grey sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.

It is suitable for making paper
The sap is vivid yellow.
