Violet Fruit Tree

This short fruit tree grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 63 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, straight trunk covered in paper-thin, waxy, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the very dense wood is burgundy.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with thick bunches of small, finger-like leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are light brown with lime tips.

In early spring, it produces balls of small, peach blossoms with triangular shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a strong scent that smells like coconut.

In mid-summer it produces small, prism-shaped fruit. The smooth violet skin is delicate and spicy and savoury, and the very soft white flesh is savoury and dry. The brown seeds are large and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
