Pink Trumpetvine

This average-sized flower grows up to 9 inches (23 cm) tall. Its moss green stem is very thin, and the miniature, pink-red leaves are dark brown on the underside and are teardrop-shaped with smooth edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.

A single giant flower sits at the end of each stem. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with solid white petals and a pink central disk. The flower head is shaped like a trumpet made up of dozens of raised, narrow petals. They are very delicate.

It has a weak scent that smells like honeysuckle, and it has very little pollen; it does not cause any allergic reactions. It is a self-pollinator, but is also visited by one species of insect in particular.
