Mahogany

Shrub type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by clinging to almost any surface.)

This huge shrub grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall and lives for around 21 years. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has many very thick, wonky stems covered in paper-thin, smooth, mahogany-coloured bark, and the wood inside is yellow-brown.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright with thousands of twigs that and are covered with small bunches of giant, needle-like, leaves with jagged edges. The leaves themselves are caramel and aquamarine, frail and soft.

It produces many small, red flowers with shield-shaped petals. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like musk. In early summer it forms largeslate aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

It is suitable for use as a construction material
It can grow in even the most barren lands.
The bark is frequently covered in moss.
