Magentafern

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 129 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has dozens of knobbly, straight stems covered in silky, dark brown bark, and the wood inside is mahogany-coloured.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright with thousands of twigs that and are covered with large amounts of giant, spear shaped, leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are solid magenta or vivid red, with purple lines, durable and leathery.

It produces thick bunches of medium-sized, pink flowers with slender, pointed petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They detach easily and have a delicate scent that smells like grass cuttings. In mid-autumn it forms giantlime, winged seeds that spin and fall nearby.

The leaves and petals are often used to make tea.
It is overwhelmingly resistant to fire damage.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
