Turquoise

This small shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 190 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has dozens of very thick, curved stems covered in delicate, waxy, white with black speckled bark, and the wood inside is black with white speckles.

The branches trail down across the ground that and are covered with very large amounts of tiny, fan-like, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are turquoise and amber, rigid and crispy.

In early summer it produces thousands of tiny, pink blossoms with spear shaped petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are hardy and have no scent.

In mid-autumn tiny slender, 5 pointed fruits ripen. The smooth purple skin is thick and inedible, and the slightly crunchy light brown flesh is slightly bitter and oily. The hazel seed is very large and sits at the top of the fruit.
