Goldenbrush

Shrub type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 177 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has numerous knobbly, angular stems covered in thin, silky, yellow bark, and the wood inside is pale yellow.

The branches are short and thin with dozens of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of miniature, long, tapering, leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are gold on the edges and lime at the center, tough and crispy.

In late summer it produces thousands of medium-sized, deep green flowers with broad, flat petals. They detach easily and have a weak scent that smells like cotton.


It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
