Turquoise Willow

Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)

This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for around 14 years. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has many stocky, crooked stems covered in paper-thin, cracked, gray bark, and the wood inside is gray.

The branches trail down across the ground with thousands of twigs that and are covered with sparse amounts of miniature, 7 pointed, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are solid turquoise or dark yellow, with beige streaks, hardy and rough.

In mid-summer it produces a handful of medium-sized, slate blossoms with 4 V-shaped shaped petals. They are sturdy and have a weak scent that smells like perfume.

In mid-autumn small fan-like fruits ripen. The fuzzy sky blue skin is delicate and sweet, and the slightly crunchy aquamarine flesh is sour and powdery. The cream seeds are tiny and are bunched at the top of the fruit.

It is suitable for making paper
The grains are bitter, but very healthy and can be used to make numerous baked goods.
