Silver Sicklefern
Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)This large leaf succulent grows up to 102 feet (31.1 meters) tall. The sickle shaped stem is red, and is dotted with small pastel green spines. The rounded-edged, 5 pointed leaves are generally silver. Large amounts of them grow from the base in alternating pairs. The leaves are soft and flexible, but are very difficult to pull away.
It is steady-growing, taking 15 months to reach maturity. Once mature, several flowers with petals that are purple on the underside and brown on the top grow at the top, reappearing every year. The flower head is shaped like a bowl made up of 14 widely spaced, round-tipped petals. It has a strong scent that smells like warm milk.
The leaf succulent's skin is thick, the lime flesh is rough, and the red sap is thin.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
The leaves and petals are often used to make tea.
It is often referred to as the most beautiful of all flowers.
