Rippled Sunflower

Flower type: Biennial (Evergreen - keeps its leaves all year round)

This modest-sized flower grows up to 1.6 feet (48 cm) tall. Its yellow stem is very thin and straight with a curved tip, and the huge, gray leaves are wispy with ripped edges. 3 leaves grow at the base of the stem.

Around 90 small flowers grow in bunches along the stem. The flowers are 4 cm (1.6 inches) wide, with alternating petals of peach and olive, with an intense purple central disk. The flower head is made up of 36 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight tube. They are sturdy.

It has a mildly strong scent that smells like cigarette smoke, and it has an average amount of pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird.

It is very rare outside of a particular area.
It out-competes most other plants for nutrients and light.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
