Eternal Fir
Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This small tree grows up to 6 meters (19.7 feet) tall and lives "forever", with many known specimens being tens of thousands of years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a thick, straight trunk covered in very thick, cracked, light gray bark, and inside, the very light wood is white with black speckles.
The small handful of branches trail down towards the ground, with hundreds of twigs covered with sparse amounts of small, orange needles. The needles themselves are rigid.
In late summer it produces giant, subtle green seed pods.
The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It makes a distinctive sound when the wind blows through it.
