Mahogany Spruce
Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)This giant tree grows up to 103 meters (337.9 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 300 years old. It is somewhat resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a knobbly, curved trunk covered in fine, silky, mahogany-coloured bark, and inside, the very light wood is white with black speckles.
The excessive amount of branches trail down across the ground, covered with small amounts of miniature, hazel or cream needles. The needles themselves are frail.
In late summer it produces medium-sized, lime aril (seeds with fleshy covers).
The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.
