Firebloom

Flower type: Biennial (Stores water in its stem)

This big flower grows up to 3.9 feet (1.2 meters) tall. Its red stem is very thin and straight with a curved tip, and the huge, yellow and slate leaves are fan-like with serrated edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves grow in pairs along the length of the stem.

Two small flowers sit at the end of each stem. The flowers are 11 cm (4.3 inches) wide, with petals that are blue on the edges and light grey at the center. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 20 curved petals. They are sturdy.

It has an intensely strong scent that smells like burning wood, and it has a fair amount of pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird.
