Glowing Hazelberry

This colossal fruit tree grows up to 50 feet (15.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 19 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, wonky trunk covered in very thick, waxy, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the dense wood is silver.

The numerous branches are short, rigid and upright and are covered with copious amounts of giant, very thin leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are purple and pale orange.

In early spring, it produces large amounts of small, green blossoms with finger-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are sturdy and have an overpowering scent that smells like lavender.

In late autumn it produces , spiral-shaped fruit. The waxy gold skin is thin and inedible, and the slightly crunchy hazel flesh is very sweet and sticky. The olive seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with patches of undergrowth between them.
