Twistpine

Tree type: Coniferous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This short tree grows up to 4 meters (13.1 feet) tall and lives for over 1,000 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 1581 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a thick, wavy trunk covered in delicate, rough, pine-coloured bark, and inside, the flexible wood is white.

The numerous branches trail down across the ground, with thousands of twigs covered with handfuls of miniature, red needles. The needles themselves are light.

In late summer it produces tiny, aquamarine berries.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.
