SucculentSickle Spine Palm

This short caudiciform grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. The sickle shaped stem is gray-green, and is covered in lots of fine, dark brown, hair-like spines. The straight, yellow trunk can grow to as much as 2 feet (61.0 cm) in diameter at the top. Its yellow-green branches are long and thin and start growing a quarter of the way up the stem.

The handfuls of smooth-edged, pleated leaves are found in light red, cyan and indigo varieties. They are strong, and do not detach easily.

It is slow growing, taking 38 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with solid cream petals decorated with vibrant green dots and a blue central disk, grow at the top, reappearing once every 6 years. The flower head is made up of 29 petals; the lower layer of petals are flat, while the upper layers form a tight cup. It has an intense scent that smells like wet dog.

The caudiciform's skin is delicate, the light brown flesh is rough, and the hazel sap is thin.
