Thickstem Puffgrass

Grass type: Perennial (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)

This small, hazel or indigo grass grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall. The very thick stalks grow in sparse patches that are durable.

When mature, the end of the stem eventually transforms into a giant, green puff.

During the early winter, it produces a modest amount of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions, and after flowering, it is left with a modest amount of tiny grains.

The sap is edible and overwhelmingly bitter.
It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
