Crimson Heath Moss

This pink-red moss is commonly found growing in medium-sized clumps In bogs, and In heathlands.
It is large, growing up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. It forms in extensive patches, and is extremely tough; it is very difficult to kill.
When mature, emerald crescent-shaped capsules grow at the end of elongated, lime green sporophytes, eventually opening up during the late autumn to release dozens of spores; it can cause severe allergic reactions.
