Spinevine

This small caudiciform grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. The needle-like stem is orange-yellow, and is covered in copious amounts of rigid green spines. The straight, silver trunk can grow to as much as 2 feet (61.0 cm) in diameter in the middle. Its moss green branches are short stubs and start growing three quarters of the way up the stem.

The very large amounts of smooth-edged, long, tapering leaves are slate and magenta. They are frail, and detach easily.

It is fast growing, taking 4 months to reach maturity. Once mature, and only under the right conditions, several flowers with solid peach petals and a white central disk grow at the top, reappearing after 10 years, but only when the conditions are right again. The flower head is largely flat with several raised narrow petals. It has no scent.

The caudiciform's skin is very thick, the blood red flesh is slimy, and the violet sap is thin and causes vomiting if consumed.
