Sapphire Thornbush

This colossal shrub grows up to 10 feet (3.0 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 105 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has dozens of long and flexible, straight stems covered in very thick, knobbly, yellow-brown bark, and the wood inside is white with black speckles.

The branches trail down to the ground with dozens of twigs that and are covered with small amounts of huge, thin, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are cyan and blue, durable and rough.

In early spring it produces lots of medium-sized, red blossoms with circular petals with a tube-like floral cup. They are sturdy and have a soft scent that smells like damp.

In late autumn tiny long, tapering fruits ripen. The clammy turquoise skin is tough and sour, and the soft blood red flesh is spicy and very juicy. The yellow seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.
