Burgundy Petalfern

This massive flower grows up to 8.5 feet (2.6 meters) tall. Its burgundy stem is wispy and splits into 6 branching stems three quarters of the way up, and the huge, emerald leaves are white on the underside and are perforated with serrated edges. Many leaves grow along the entire length of the stem.

Each stem splits 6 to 11 times; a single large flower grows at the end of each split. The flowers are 56 cm (22.0 inches) wide, with petals that are either slate or silver, with a yellow center. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 50 petals. They fall easily.

It has a strong scent that smells like freshly washed clothes, and it has an average amount of pollen. It is pollinated by a small species of bird, but is also particularly attractive to insects.
