Paperbark Willow
Shrub type: Deciduous (Grows along the ground or other low surfaces.)This short shrub grows up to 1 foot (30.5 cm) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 166 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.
It has many long and flexible, straight stems covered in paper-thin, knobbly, light gray bark, and the wood inside is gray.
The branches are long, thin and wispy with dozens of twigs that and are covered with copious amounts of huge, asymmetrical, leaves with ripped edges. The leaves themselves are solid slate or white, with grey lines, light and soft.
In late summer it produces a thick sheet of small, dark brown flowers with sickle shaped petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have an intensely strong scent that smells like perfume.
