Grass type: Biennial (Stores water in its leaves)This modest-sized, emerald grass grows up to 2 feet (61.0 cm) tall. The spear shaped stalks grow in small clumps that are resilient.
When mature, the end of the stem eventually transforms into a giant, red tuft.
During the late autumn, it produces copious amounts of pollen, and after flowering, it is left with lots of medium-sized grains.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It is very rare outside of a particular area.
