Blue Spine Cactus
Succulent type: Stem succulent (Stores water in its stem)This short cactus grows up to 4 feet (1.2 meters) tall. It splits randomly along the body to form 3 narrow stems. Each stem is caramel or black, and is covered in handfuls of flexible faded blue spines.
It is steady-growing, taking 3 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with cream petals and an aquamarine central disk, grow at the top, reappearing once every 8 years. The flower head is an uncoordinated mess of up to 60 curved petals. It has a weak scent that smells like paint.
The cactus's skin is nearly impenetrable, the olive flesh is soft, and the turquoise sap is thin.
It commonly grows in large patches.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
