Violet?

This big fruit tree grows up to 43 feet (13.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 22 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, straight trunk covered in thin, wrinkled, burgundy and brown bark, and inside, the light wood is brown.

The numerous branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with copious amounts of large, thin leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are generally bronze.

In early spring, it produces lots of giant, turquoise blossoms with many layers of petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They fall easily and have a fairly strong scent that smells like rotten meat.

In mid-autumn it produces very large, umbrella-shaped fruit. The clammy violet skin is tough and edible when roasted; it is bitter and spicy, and the very soft washed-out green flesh is slightly bitter and very juicy. The green seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.
