Copperfruit

This short fruit tree grows up to 8 feet (2.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 43 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a narrow, curved trunk covered in delicate, smooth, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the very dense wood is yellow-brown.

The sparse amount of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of giant, long, tapering leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are sky blue and lime.

In early spring, it produces lots of tiny, amber blossoms with 7 shield-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have an intense scent that smells like sugar.

In early autumn it produces small, long, narrow fruit. The crispy pink skin is delicate and inedible, and the very soft red flesh is sweet and syrupy. The beige seeds are tiny and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with patches of undergrowth between them.
