Goldenberry

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 11 feet (3.4 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 43 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, twisting trunk covered in very thick, rough, yellow bark, and inside, the light wood is yellow.

The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with large amounts of huge, broad, flat leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid slate or gentle yellow, with deep green splotches.

In early spring, it produces bunches of small, gold blossoms with finger-like petals. They are very delicate and have a soft scent that smells like rich perfume.

In mid-summer it produces , long, narrow fruit. The clammy grey skin is thick and inedible, and the crunchy white flesh is salty and oily. The black seeds are large and are dotted around on the skin of the fruit.

The roots are shallow and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
