Indigo Vine

This enormous vine is a very slow growing plant, with the largest known specimen reaching a length of 703 feet (214.3 meters) and growing as high as 102 feet (31.1 meters).

It takes 11 years for the red stems to mature, by which point they often have a diameter of 4.9 feet (1.5 meters) and are rough and prickly.

The broad, flat, crispy leaves reach up to 1.8 feet (56 cm) in length. They are solid black or yellow, with indigo dots, and have irregular edges.

During late spring, the vine produces handfuls of tiny grey flowers.
