Indigo

This massive fruit tree grows up to 52 feet (15.8 meters) tall and lives for up to 30 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 38 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a wide, wavy trunk covered in wrinkled, brown bark, and inside, the soft wood is pine-coloured.

The tangled mess of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with small bunches of tiny, pleated leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are emerald with red tips.

In early spring, it produces a handful of giant, black blossoms with finger-like petals. They are hardy and have a scent that varies in strength that smells like baby powder.

In mid-summer it produces , pleated fruit. The fuzzy indigo skin is thin and inedible, and the crunchy sky blue flesh is bitter and dry. The silver seeds are large and are scattered throughout the fruit.

The roots are thick and spread across the surface, as well as underground, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with grassy ground between them.
