Magenta Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Coniferous (Stores water in its stem)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 17 feet (5.2 meters) tall and lives for up to 45 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 81 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a branched, wonky trunk covered in thick, smooth, dark gray bark, and inside, the very light wood is copper-coloured.

The small handful of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with very large amounts of miniature, sickle shaped leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are found in florescent orange, pastel yellow and pastel yellow varieties.

In early spring, it produces hundreds of medium-sized, beige blossoms with stiff, pointed petals. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like something putrid.

In early summer it produces tiny, finger-like fruit. The hairy brown skin is stretchy and edible when cooked; it is bitter, and the slightly crunchy magenta flesh is salty and juicy. The cream seeds are small and are located in the centre of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between filled with undergrowth.

It is suitable for making strong rope
