Violetbell Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its leaves)

This average-sized fruit tree grows up to 13 feet (4.0 meters) tall and lives for up to 25 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 34 years old. It is not very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, twisting trunk covered in wrinkled, brown-green bark, and inside, the very dense wood is pale yellow.

The branches are long, thin and wispy and are covered with thick bunches of huge, long, tapering leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are vivid green and indigo.

In early spring, it produces several small, blue blossoms with needle-like petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have no scent.

In late autumn it produces , oval fruit. The fuzzy brown skin is tough and edible when cooked; it is sour, and the crunchy violet flesh is bitter and powdery. The light brown seed is small and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.

It is often home to a particular bird species.
It is suitable for creating strong, durable textiles
