Bluefruit Tree
Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)This large fruit tree grows up to 45 feet (13.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 46 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.
It has a wide, straight trunk covered in waxy, dark gray bark, and inside, the light wood is dark brown.
The sparse amount of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with small bunches of miniature, pleated leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are solid blue with crimson splotches.
In early spring, it produces clusters of tiny, white blossoms with circular petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like leather.
In late summer it produces tiny, spherical fruit. The hairy cream skin is delicate and inedible, and the soft caramel flesh is sweet and bitter and powdery. The olive seed is small and is in the centre of the fruit.
The roots are shallow and widely spread, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.
Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
