Prickly Limeleaf

This small leaf succulent grows up to 9 feet (2.7 meters) tall. The thick stem is yellow, and is covered in sharp spines. The thick leaves are dark brown and lime. Small amounts of them grow on round, yellow-green branches that are short and thick. The leaves are hardy, but detach easily.

It is steady-growing, taking 2 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a single flower with petals that are cream on the edges and peach at the center grows at the top, reappearing once every 9 years. The flower head is shaped like a tube with 44 widely spaced, narrow petals. It has a weak scent that smells like garlic.

The leaf succulent's skin is delicate, the florescent yellow flesh is smooth, and the ashy green sap is thin and can cause blindness if consumed.
