Violet Fruit Tree

This big fruit tree grows up to 39 feet (11.9 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 38 years old. It is very resistant to disease but is susceptible to destructive insect infestation.

It has a flexible, wonky trunk covered in hard, smooth, white with black speckled bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is black.

The branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with large amounts of giant, needle-like leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are found in green, cream and violet varieties.

In early spring, it produces a handful of medium-sized, turquoise blossoms with many layers of petals with a trumpet-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a weak scent that smells like cherry.

In mid-autumn it produces tiny, fan-like fruit. The fuzzy turquoise skin is stretchy and inedible, and the slightly crunchy magenta flesh is salty and dry. The orange seed is large and is in the centre of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
