Crimson Fruit Tree

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)

This small fruit tree grows up to 5 feet (1.5 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 29 years old. It is very susceptible to disease and insect infestation.

It has a knobbly, crooked trunk covered in fine, waxy, gray bark, and inside, the flexible wood is white.

The branches are tall, rigid and upright and are covered with small bunches of large, long, narrow leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are emerald with crimson tips.

In early spring, it produces copious amounts of giant, dark brown blossoms with flame-shaped shaped petals. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like fruity.

In early autumn it produces , spherical fruit. The rubbery dark grey skin is thin and bitter, and the slightly crunchy crimson flesh is very sour and very dry. The orange seeds are small and are bunched at the bottom of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is rigid and brittle.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with clear space between them.


All of it is said to be part of one single, massive plant.
It spreads easily and often blanket large areas.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
