Turquoise

This short fruit tree grows up to 7 feet (2.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 15 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 32 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a stocky, wonky trunk covered in thin, ridged, silver bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is black with white speckles.

The excessive amount of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with copious amounts of giant, finger-like leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are found in turquoise and caramel varieties.

In early spring, it produces thousands of large, slate blossoms with asymmetrical petals with a bell-shaped floral cup. They are hardy and have a delicate scent that smells like old shoes.

In early autumn it produces , long, straight fruit. The fuzzy yellow skin is peel-able and sour and savoury, and the very soft muted green flesh is very spicy and powdery. The beige seed is tiny and sits at the top of the fruit.

The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature trees spaced far apart, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
