Silverleaf Maple
Tree type: Deciduous (Sheds its leaves in winter)This average-sized tree grows up to 40 meters (131.2 feet) tall and lives for centuries, with the oldest known specimen being around 670 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a flexible, straight trunk covered in delicate, cracked, silver and white bark, and inside, the very hard wood is burgundy.
The branches trail down across the ground and are covered with small amounts of leathery, small, perforated leaves with serrated edges. The leaves themselves are pink and caramel.
In late summer it forms large, washed-out green, winged seeds that float and land far away.
The roots are long and grow straight down, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
