Amberberry

Fruit Tree type: Deciduous (Grows upwards by winding itself around other objects and plants.)

This modest-sized fruit tree grows up to 20 feet (6.1 meters) tall and lives for up to 20 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 35 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has a long and flexible, straight trunk covered in delicate, cracked, yellow bark, and inside, the flexible wood is pine-coloured.

The excessive amount of branches trail down across the ground and are covered with small bunches of miniature, stiff, pointed leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are black on the sides and dark grey at the center.

In early spring, it produces lots of small, amber blossoms with finger-like petals with a tube-like floral cup. They fall easily and have a strong scent that smells like cheese.

In early autumn it produces small, asymmetrical fruit. The smooth brown skin is thick and edible when cooked; it is sweet and salty, and the very soft black flesh is sweet and very juicy. The intense green seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots form a tightly packed ball, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with clear space between them.

It releases hallucinogenic smoke when burned.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
It commonly grows in large patches.
