Silver Cube Flower
Flower type: Perennial (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This short flower grows up to 6 inches (15 cm) tall. Its olive stem is thin, and the giant, silver leaves are very narrow and elongated with ripped edges. Many leaves grow at the base of the stem, and more leaves alternate on the stem from about halfway up, up to the flower head.
Many large flowers grow along the length of the stem. The flowers are 3 cm (1.2 inches) wide, with petals that are either azure or light green, with a yellow center. The flower head is shaped like a cube made up of many widely spaced, narrow petals. They are hardy.
It has an overpowering scent that smells like fish, and it has lots of pollen. It is pollinated by the wind, but is also particularly attractive to insects.
It is suitable for creating fine, soft textiles
The leaves are high in natural sugars.
