Copperfruit

This enormous fruit tree grows up to 68 feet (20.7 meters) tall and lives for up to 35 years, with the oldest known specimen being around 50 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a branched, wonky trunk covered in paper-thin, rough, copper-coloured bark, and inside, the medium-dense wood is brown.

The small handful of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with thick bunches of tiny, slender, pointed leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are solid dark grey or peach, with orange splotches.

In early spring, it produces many clusters of tiny, black blossoms with umbrella-shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a delicate scent that smells like apple.

In early summer it produces , finger-like fruit. The sticky red skin is peel-able and inedible, and the slightly crunchy white flesh is overwhelmingly bitter and powdery. The yellow seed is large and sits at the end of the fruit.

The roots are fine and grow in a large web, and overall the tree is sturdy and rigid.

Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with grassy ground between them.
