Red Spikefern
Succulent type: Leaf succulent (Stores water in its leaves)This massive leaf succulent grows up to 180 feet (54.9 meters) tall. The perforated stem is red, and is covered in brittle beige spines. The smooth-edged, thick leaves are either washed-out red or red, with blue dots. Small amounts of them grow from the base in random directions. The leaves are rigid, but are very difficult to pull away.
It is steady-growing, taking 2 years to reach maturity. Once mature, a handful of flowers, with petals that are light brown at the sides and gold at the center, grow at the top, reappearing once every 4 years. The flower head is shaped like a tube with 21 raised, round-tipped petals. It has a weak scent that smells like bonfire smoke.
The leaf succulent's skin is thick, the magenta flesh is soft, and the cyan sap is thin and can kill if consumed.
It is extremely resistant to fire damage.
