Crimson Tree
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in its stem)This average-sized tree grows up to 48 meters (157.5 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 143 years old. It is susceptible to disease and destructive insect infestation.
It has a wide, straight trunk covered in thick, ridged, brown-green speckled bark, and inside, the flexible wood is yellow.
The small bunches of branches trail down towards the ground and are covered with sparse amounts of clammy, small, sickle shaped leaves with smooth edges. The leaves themselves are brilliant yellow on the edges and hazel at the center.
In late summer it forms large, crimson seed pods.
The roots spread far and go deep underground, and overall the tree is rigid and weak, and breaks apart easily.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together densely, with the space between filled with undergrowth.
