Copperleaf
Tree type: Deciduous (Stores water in the thickened base of its stem)This short tree grows up to 2 meters (6.6 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 131 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.
It has a long and flexible, slanted trunk covered in thin, cracked, yellow-brown bark, and inside, the very hard wood is copper-coloured.
The branches are short and thin and are covered with large amounts of fuzzy, huge, finger-like leaves with rounded edges. The leaves themselves are grey on the sides and bronze at the center.
In early spring, it produces thick bunches of medium-sized, florescent green blossoms with 2 oval-shaped shaped petals. They are very delicate and have a soft scent that smells like fruity.
In late summer it forms medium-sized, caramel, spiky-shelled seeds.
The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy, flexible, and difficult to uproot or break.
Forests of this species feature the trees packed together, with the space between them filled with thick undergrowth.
It is said to be able to live for hundreds of years.
It is suitable for creating flexible, durable textiles
