Whispering Willow

Tree type: Deciduous (Sheds its leaves in winter)

This large tree grows up to 85 meters (278.9 feet) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 116 years old. It is very resistant to disease and destructive insect infestation.

It has a narrow, straight trunk covered in fine, knobbly, brown-green bark, and inside, the light wood is pine-coloured.

The excessive amount of branches trail down to the ground and are covered with handfuls of crispy, huge, circular leaves with irregular edges. The leaves themselves are a shade of washed-out orange that gradient shifts to azure at the top.

In early spring, it produces thick bunches of tiny, bronze blossoms with slender, pointed petals. They are very delicate and have a strong scent that smells like new books.

In late summer it forms tiny, dull purple aril (seeds with fleshy covers).

The roots grow as a near perfect mirror of the tree above, and overall the tree is sturdy and difficult to uproot.

Forests of this species feature well-spaced trees, with clear space between them.

The bark is frequently covered in moss.
It is suitable for use as a construction material
