Turquoise Needlegrass
Grass type: Perennial (Sheds its leaves in winter)This enormous, moss green grass grows up to 22 feet (6.7 meters) tall. The needle-like stalks grow in extensive patches that are light and frail.
When mature, the end of the stem eventually transforms into a small, turquoise flower.
During the early winter, it produces a modest amount of pollen; it can cause severe allergic reactions, and after flowering, it is left with a few large grains.
It is suitable for making baskets and the like
It absorbs an exceptionally large amount of water each day.
It is very rare outside of a particular area.
