Goldenpine

This enormous shrub grows up to 12 feet (3.7 meters) tall and lives for decades, with the oldest known specimen being around 194 years old. It is very resistant to destructive insect infestation but susceptible to disease.

It has several flexible, slanted stems covered in delicate, wrinkled, yellow-brown bark, and the wood inside is gray.

The branches are very long and thick with thousands of twigs that and are covered with very large amounts of tiny, very thin, leaves with tattered edges. The leaves themselves are gold on the edges and vibrant orange at the center, rigid and covered in fine hairs.

In late spring it produces thick bunches of medium-sized, bronze blossoms with long, narrow petals. They are very delicate and have an overpowering scent that smells like pineapple.

In mid-autumn wide fruits ripen. The sticky slate skin is stretchy and edible when cooked; it is spicy and savoury, and the soft purple flesh is sweet and salty and syrupy. The lime seed is tiny and is in the centre of the fruit.
